NHS Blood and Transplant in Bristol is seeking a proactive SHTO to support scientists and the day-to-day running of the Molecular Diagnostics laboratory. You will prepare samples, run tests, operate analysers and perform basic equipment maintenance, while assisting in training and development of other staff.

The role requires precise adherence to written and verbal instructions, strong teamwork, and good communication.

Competenze

• BTEC or HNC (Level 4) in a science subject, or NHSBT Foundation Degree OR Equivalent knowledge & experience of a wide range of blood processing, testing and/or issuing procedures and techniques demanding intermediate level theoretical knowledge acquired through formal training.
• Evidence of furthering personal development
• Experience of using computers and basic IT programs
• Experience of supervising others

Mansioni

• Prepare, test and store blood samples with team support
• Operate analysers and perform basic equipment maintenance
• Train and support new and less experienced staff
• Handle precise repetitive manipulation of equipment and samples
• Monitor stock, consumables and reagents
• Handle equipment and blood samples daily (7am–6pm)
