The Hospital Of St John & St Elizabeth in London is seeking an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join St Elizabeth Ward, a 16-bed surgical unit serving day case and inpatient procedures. You will support the nursing team with patients’ daily care before and after surgery and help maintain high standards of safety and compassion.

The role covers orthopaedic, spinal, breast and urological care. We offer private healthcare, development opportunities and a supportive team in a charitable hospital

• Must have a caring, respectful, patient-centred approach.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Literacy, numeracy and basic digital skills sufficient to record care.

• Understanding of dignity, confidentiality, infection prevention and safeguarding.
• Willingness to complete required training and competency assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients on a surgical inpatient ward, supporting the registered nursing team with patients’ everyday care needs before and after surgery.
• The postholder will assist in caring for patients undergoing orthopaedic, spinal, breast and urological procedures, promoting dignity, comfort, independence and recovery.
• All duties will be undertaken within agreed competencies, following appropriate training and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Healthcare assistant to join our team on St Elizabeth Ward, a 16-bed surgical ward providing care for both day case and surgical inpatients.

The ward cares for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery as well as those requiring care across a range of specialties, including Breast, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, General Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Orthopaedic and Spinal, Urology.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Healthcare assistant who is passionate about delivering high-quality, safe and evidence-based patient care and who is ready to take on a senior clinical and leadership role.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Healthcare assistant, you will:
