Job summary

Omnes Healthcare in Barking is seeking a motivated Healthcare Assistant to join a GP Practice team delivering NHS Primary Medical Services. You will support a patient-focused team, carrying out vital clinical tasks with confidentiality and professionalism.

The role requires autonomy, empathy and the ability to work across a busy primary care setting, contributing to high-quality patient care and smooth clinical operations.

Qualifications

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use practice software.
  • Understanding of general practice workflows.
  • Ability to work professionally, sensitively and empathetically.

Responsibilities

  • Phlebotomy and injections (e.g., B12).
  • Administer flu vaccinations and monitor patients.
  • Record observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height/weight, BMI).
  • Undertake delegated tasks and duties by clinical staff.
  • Support ordering of supplies and equipment; assist in sterilisation.
  • Maintain accurate records and support smooth clinical operations.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our established team and be part of a company that genuinely makes a difference to patient care.

The Healthcare Assistant plays a vital role within the GP Practice team, supporting the delivery of the full range of NHS Primary Medical Services. You will work alongside our friendly, patient-focused clinical and management teams, providing essential support to ensure high-quality, safe, and compassionate care for all patients.

This role requires autonomy, discretion, empathy, and sensitivity, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact on patients’ lives while working in a supportive, patient-committed team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Phlebotomy
  • B12 injections
  • Flu vaccinations
  • Recording observations such as:
    • Blood pressure
    • Pulse
    • Temperature
    • Height and weight
    • BMI calculations
  • Undertake tasks and duties delegated by clinical and management staff
  • Conduct procedures such as blood pressure monitoring, new patient checks, and basic clinical observations
  • Support the practice with ordering supplies and equipment
  • Assist in the sterilisation and preparation of equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
  • Work collaboratively to support smooth clinical operations
