Job summary

Prometheus Safe & Secure is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our nationwide teams delivering safe, compassionate transfers for patients in mental health crisis and other specialist settings. You will support nurses, assist with patient transfers, and help maintain high standards of care across NHS and private partner environments.

This is hands-on, patient-facing work requiring empathy, resilience and professionalism, with training and development provided to support your career growth.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (auto/manual) with fewer than 6 penalty points.
• Right to work in the UK confirmed.
• Valid Enhanced DBS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive and positive attitude, team player.
• Well organised with good time management.
• Experience in a compliance-focused role (preferred).
• Physically able to carry out patient care duties including intervention when necessary.
• Commitment to safeguarding best practice.

Responsibilities

• Providing high quality, compassionate care during patient transfers and in care settings.
• Supporting qualified nurses in the safe transfer of patients.
• Driving Prometheus ambulances when required.
• Responding effectively to crises and emergencies.
• Completing clear and accurate documentation in line with procedures.
• Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children in accordance with policy.
• Maintaining vehicles and equipment to required standards.
• Leading a team during informal patient transfers when needed.
