Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Outpatients team at The Meriden Hospital in Coventry. This is a full-time, permanent position offering 37.5 hours per week with flexible shifts. Salary is up to £27,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.

You will assist patients with personal care and daily needs, perform routine observations, and support clinical tasks under supervision, collaborating with nurses and admin staff to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Previous care or health support experience preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and report concerns appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, mobility and feeding.
• Record routine observations such as BP, pulse, respiration, temp and glucose as trained.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Support basic clinical procedures and wound care setup under supervision.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for use.
• Work with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe care.

The Meriden Hospital in Coventry is part of Circle Health Group , Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Outpatients department.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
