The Meriden Hospital in Coventry is hiring a Healthcare Assistant for the Outpatients department. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern.

You will assist patients with personal care, help with meals, and support clinical tasks under supervision, contributing to a safe, caring environment. We value compassionate staff, excellent communication, and the ability to follow instructions.

Qualifications

• Experience in care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring attitude.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.

Responsabilités

• Assist patients with personal care, hygiene, dressing, toileting and mobility.
• Help with eating, drinking and documenting intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Take routine observations (BP, pulse, resp rate, temp, SpO2, glucose) after training.
• Support clinical procedures including wound care setup and catheter care.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nursing, medical, therapy and admin teams to ensure safe care.

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Outpatients department. This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care
  Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
