Langdon Hills Medical Centre in Wallsend is seeking a healthcare assistant to join the nursing team on a part-time basis (minimum 25 hours per week). You will work under the supervision of the senior practice nurse to support prescribed care programmes and deliver high-quality patient care within clear guidelines.

Main duties include wound care, phlebotomy checks, new patient checks, stock management, assisting GPs during minor procedures and promoting health education to patients and carers.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Care Certificate or willingness to undertake as indicated by the CQC.
• Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting.
• Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidential manner with compassionate and respectful approach.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of working within a GP practice.
• A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture.

Responsabilités

Langdon Hills Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, and support the nursing team, on a full or part-time basis, for at least 25 hours per week. Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

• Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines;
• New patient health checks;
• Re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines;
• Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms;
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations;
• Providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.
