Job summary

Penrose Health is seeking Healthcare Assistants to join our primary care teams delivering compassionate, high‑quality care across South East London sites. You will provide face‑to‑face clinical support, perform phlebotomy, ECGs, blood pressure checks, wound care, and assist the GP team in patient interactions.

Ideal candidates hold an NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and are comfortable with EMIS.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Experience as an HCA in primary care or community setting preferred.
  • Proficient in phlebotomy, ECGs and wound care.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face clinical support to patients in our practices.
  • Carry out phlebotomy, ECGs, blood pressure checks, wound care and vaccines where appropriate.
  • Chaperone patients alongside the nursing and GP team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and vaccine/storage management.
  • Support infection control and health promotion initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing face-to-face clinical support to patients in our practices
  • Carrying out blood pressure checks, ECGs, phlebotomy, wound care, weight management and NHS health checks
  • Giving B12, shingles, pneumococcal and flu injections
  • Chaperoning patients alongside the nursing and GP team
  • Assessing and monitoring patients' health and wellbeing
  • Managing vaccine and cold chain storage, and keeping accurate clinical records
  • Supporting infection control and health promotion initiatives
  • Helping keep consultation rooms stocked and organised
You’ll Thrive Here If You
  • Have previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, ideally in a primary care or community setting
  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Are confident in core HCA duties like phlebotomy, ECGs and wound care
  • Bring a kind, respectful and professional approach to every patient interaction
  • Communicate clearly and stay organised, even when things get busy
  • Are a flexible, reliable team player who's always keen to learn
  • Have experience working in a GP Primary Care setting (12+ months preferred), and ideally know your way around EMIS
