Job description

The Health Care Worker is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team and will have ongoing responsibilities to:

  1. Deliver effective and competent care under the guidance of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and as per the patient's care plan.
  2. Be aware of the needs of patients over a 24-hour period.
  3. Monitor, report, and maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to relevant health and safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (1985), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (1985), European H&S Regulations (1992), and the Food Act (1996).
  4. Follow Trust policies and local service protocols.
  5. Work across the four wards at St Martins Hospital.
  6. Record and report any changes in patient behaviour or risks promptly to the Nurse or healthcare professional in charge.
  7. Accurately document care provided and report any omissions in a timely manner.
  8. Support and carry out therapeutic observations as required and instructed.
  9. Promote a healthy, safe, and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  10. Support new team members.
  11. Demonstrate professionalism and uphold the Trust values.
  12. Provide comfort, compassion, empathy, and time to patients and their families.
  13. Complete all essential training for the role.
  14. Work confidently in various environments, adapting to different challenges professionally.
  15. Balance responsibilities across a 7-day working pattern.
  16. Be flexible and responsive to changing demands.
