Job summary

The Rosewood Mother & Baby Unit (MBU) are looking to recruit a highly experienced and enthusiastic part-time Health Visitor to join their multi-disciplinary team.

Rosewood MBU is an 8 bedded unit situated in Dartford Kent. The MBU is an inpatient service for women from Kent, Surrey & Sussex experiencing acute perinatal mental health issues.

The post holder will be responsible for providing dedicated Health Visiting support to the highest standard to all babies and mothers admitted to Rosewood Mother and Baby Unit (MBU). This will involve working in partnership with health visiting colleagues across the region and the MBU midwife. The HV will also contribute to the development of the Health Visiting service within the MBU.

What is High Cost Area Allowance?

The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas.

As this post is based in Dartford the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month.

  • 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,258 per year and a maximum payment of £2,121 per year (the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly)

The salary listed is inclusive of the High-Cost Area Allowance.

Main duties of the job

To provide Health Visiting support and delivery of the Healthy Child

Programme to mothers who have been admitted to the MBU

experiencing acute perinatal mental health issues and their baby.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic care without direct

supervision, within the MBU.

Ensure the highest standard of Health Visiting support is delivered to

mothers, their babies and families, in partnership with all members of the

internal and external multidisciplinary team.

Contribute to the development of careplans, working in accordance with local and professional guidelines.

Develop and maintain appropriate care pathways for all mothers and

babies admitted to the MBU, in line with Trust Guidelines.

Promote good health and prevent illness by offering practical help and

support in areas such as feeding, sleeping, safety, physical and emotional

development, weaning, immunisation and other aspects of childcare

based on individual need.

Provide breastfeeding advice and support pathways to enable mothers to

access specialist support where required.

Support mothers to help develop relationships and attachments with their babies.

Be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team. Leading, liaising and

communicating with internal and external agencies to support mothers

and babies on the Unit and organising ongoing care at discharge from the

unit. Work in close collaboration with the MBU Midwife.

Provide Nursery Nurses with professional/clinical supervision
