Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is recruiting a Health & Safety Site officer to join our team at the client site in Wrexham. This hands-on role leads the site's safety culture, risk reviews and corrective actions to maintain high safety standards.

You will manage risk assessments, COSHH, audits and supporting improvements across operations, collaborating with teams to drive safer working practices and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Health & Safety role within facilities management, manufacturing, food production or similar.
  • Experience completing and reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH Assessments.
  • Experience investigating incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence operational teams and drive positive behavioural change.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Health & Safety management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and promoting a positive Health & Safety culture across the site.
  • Reviewing cleaning methodologies and safe systems of work to ensure compliance, effectiveness and best practice.
  • Completing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, ensuring all documentation remains accurate and up to date.
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe acts, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Managing and monitoring site action plans, ensuring completion of all agreed actions within required timescales.
  • Conducting regular Health & Safety audits, inspections and workplace assessments.
  • Supporting operational teams with reactive Health & Safety issues and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Managing and monitoring LOTO/LOTTO procedures and compliance.
  • Maintaining Health & Safety records and compliance systems, including EcoOnline.
  • Ensuring all Health & Safety documentation is maintained, reviewed and communicated effectively.
  • Conducting COSHH assessments and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Supporting implementation of continuous improvement initiatives relating to Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
  • Working with site management and stakeholders to reduce risks and improve overall site safety performance.
  • Monitoring compliance with company policies, customer standards and legal requirements.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and coaching to operational teams.
  • Supporting internal and external audits and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Producing Health & Safety reports, trend analysis and compliance updates for management review.

About The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Site officer to join our passionate and driven team based at our client site in Wrexham.

This is a hands-on role focused on creating and maintaining a positive health, safety and compliance culture across the site. The successful candidate will take ownership of health and safety processes, risk management, audits, inspections, incident management and continuous improvement activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained at all times.

The role requires a proactive individual who can work closely with operational teams to review working practices, identify risks, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

The Ideal Candidate
Essential
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within facilities management, manufacturing, food production or a similar operational environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience completing and reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH Assessments.
  • Experience investigating incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence operational teams and drive positive behavioural change.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Health & Safety management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience using EcoOnline or similar Health & Safety management software.
  • Experience managing Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO/LOTTO) processes.
  • Experience working within food manufacturing or FMCG environments.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
