Job summary

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support planning, development and delivery of the H&S function. You’ll promote a strong safety culture, manage safety events and conduct audits and investigations with regulatory reporting.

You will provide expert H&S advice to management, review risks against legislation and help implement training programmes while liaising with safety representatives.

Qualifications

• Proven health and safety advisory experience to management levels.
• Ability to problem solve and make timely decisions under deadlines.
• Strong stakeholder communication across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, development and delivery of the H&S function and department plan.
• Promote a positive H&S culture across the organisation.
• Manage, assess and close accident/safety events using reporting systems.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments and accident investigations with reporting.
• Analyse data and legislation to review risks and improve H&S performance.
• Provide expert H&S advice to all management levels on new legislation.
• Develop, coordinate and deliver H&S training programmes.
• Liaise with safety representatives and representative bodies.
• Review and update policies and make improvement recommendations.
• Participate in 24/6 H&S advisor rota and deputise for Senior H&S Advisor.
