Job summary

Reed is seeking a proactive Corporate Health & Safety Advisor with specialist Fire Safety expertise to shape a positive safety culture across a diverse property portfolio. You will perform Fire Risk Assessments, advise on fire compliance, and support safety management of complex buildings.

Based in Hertfordshire with occasional travel to Central London, this full-time role offers hybrid working where operationally appropriate and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent required.
• Fire Safety Certificate required.
• Experience in a dedicated health & safety role.
• Practical Fire Risk Assessments experience.
• Proven ability to produce risk assessments, reports and safety documentation.
• Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
• Desirable: experience in large, complex, multi-site buildings.
• Desirable: NEBOSH Level 6 Health & Safety qualification.
• Desirable: experience with Fire & Rescue Services and regulatory inspections.

Responsibilities

• Lead on fire safety compliance across a varied built environment.
• Conduct and review Fire Risk Assessments and monitor actions.
• Advise on fire safety legislation, compliance and best practice.
• Coordinate health & safety programmes, audits, drills, and emergencies.
• Investigate incidents and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop risk assessments, policies, COSHH assessments and guidance.
• Deliver health & safety and fire safety training to managers and staff.
• Support regulatory inspections and liaise with authorities.
• Monitor performance and report to senior stakeholders.

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Corporate Health & Safety Advisor with specialist expertise in Fire Safety to play a key role in shaping and maintaining a positive safety culture across our diverse property portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who has experience undertaking Fire Risk Assessments, advising on fire compliance, and supporting the safety management of complex buildings.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead on fire safety compliance across a varied built environment portfolio.
• Conduct and review Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring actions are implemented and monitored through to completion.
• Provide expert advice on fire safety legislation, compliance, and best practice.
• Coordinate and deliver health & safety programmes, inspections, audits, fire drills, and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Investigate incidents and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain risk assessments, policies, procedures, COSHH assessments, and guidance documents.
• Deliver engaging health & safety and fire safety training to managers and employees.
• Support regulatory inspections and liaise with enforcing authorities including the HSE and Fire & Rescue Services.
• Monitor compliance performance and provide clear reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Fire Safety Certificate.
• Experience working in a dedicated Health & Safety role.
• Practical experience carrying out or managing Fire Risk Assessments.
• Experience producing detailed risk assessments, reports, and safety documentation.
• Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
• Highly Desirable:
  • Experience managing fire safety within large, complex, or multi-site buildings.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience dealing directly with Fire & Rescue Services and regulatory inspections.
