Job summary

Portland Charity seeks a proactive Deputy Health and Safety Manager to join a small H&S team. You will work with the Area H&S Manager to ensure compliance, manage risk, and drive improvements across multiple sites in the UK.

The role covers deputising, providing expert advice, risk assessment oversight, data monitoring and reporting, and coordinating training and inspections. A driving licence and willingness to travel between campuses are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in a health and safety role and managing workplace hazards.
• Knowledge of risk assessments in the workplace.
• Experience delivering health and safety training.
• Full driving licence and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Area Health and Safety Manager during periods of absence.
• Provide expert health and safety advice and training to staff and managers.
• Lead creation and management of risk assessments across sites.
• Monitor, analyse and report on health and safety data (accidents, incidents, Legionella).
• Act as Health and Safety competent person for Portland Charity.
• Lead staff health and safety training (first aid, fire warden).
• Support external inspections and audits across sites.
• Collaborate with Estates on compliance matters.
• Ensure drivers meet licensing and training requirements.
• Travel between campuses as required.
