Job summary

Principal People are recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor to support major water utilities projects across the South of England. This hybrid role involves regular travel and close collaboration with operational teams to drive HS&E performance.

You will assist the Health and Safety Manager, review plans and RAMS, conduct audits, and promote a positive safety culture across the business.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (minimum).
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors.
• Strong understanding of HS&E legislation, management systems and risk management.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage operational teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of the HS&E strategy across the framework.
• Provide practical HS&E advice and support to operational and site teams.
• Review Construction Phase Plans, Emergency Response Plans, RAMS and project documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, HS&E reviews and environmental audits.
• Support ISO 14001 compliance and environmental performance standards.
• Investigate incidents and non-conformities, identify root causes and support corrective actions.
• Monitor HS&E performance through KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver HS&E briefings, training and best practice guidance.
• Support supply chain onboarding and ongoing HS&E performance monitoring.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and operational stakeholders.
