Job summary

Principal People are partnering with a leading infrastructure contractor to appoint a Health and Safety Advisor. The hybrid role covers projects across the Thames Water framework with travel across the region.

You will support environmental strategy, ensure compliance, and drive improvements on live projects. You will be visible on site, engage with teams and influence behaviours to foster a positive environmental culture.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in environmental science or related field.
• ISEP Practitioner membership or working towards is advantageous.
• Experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation and risk management.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage operational teams and stakeholders.
• Strong career development prospects within a well-established contractor.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of the environmental strategy across the framework.
• Providing practical environmental advice and support to operational and site teams.
• Reviewing high-risk method statements, risk assessments and environmental documentation.
• Conducting site inspections, environmental reviews and audits.
• Supporting environmental compliance across all project stages.
• Investigating environmental incidents and non-conformities, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
• Monitoring environmental performance through KPIs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Delivering environmental briefings, training and best practice guidance.
• Supporting supply chain onboarding and ongoing environmental performance monitoring.
• Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders.
