Job summary

Search² is recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor to join a major, long-term infrastructure programme in Plymouth, Devon. The role focuses on delivering practical SHE guidance on site, coaching project teams and contractors, and driving safe delivery across construction activities.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of construction HSE experience, NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate, and proven ability to influence safe practices on multi-discipline sites.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Around 3+ years of practical Health and Safety experience, with more experienced Advisors encouraged to apply.
• Experience within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or a complex operational environment.
• Practical experience of site inspections, risk management, incident investigation and contractor engagement.
• Confidence working directly with operational teams and challenging unsafe practices where required.

Responsibilities

• Providing practical Health and Safety advice to project and operational teams.
• Working closely with contractors and the supply chain to improve SHE performance.
• Coaching and influencing teams to ensure Health and Safety requirements are understood and implemented.
• Conducting site inspections, assurance activities and compliance checks.
• Supporting the investigation of accidents, incidents and other unplanned events.
• Identifying corrective actions and ensuring lessons learned are communicated across the project.
• Supporting the assessment and ongoing management of contractors.
• Reviewing Health and Safety performance and helping develop improvement plans.
• Supporting and delivering relevant SHE training.
• Working with project leadership to identify emerging risks and implement practical solutions.
• Supporting compliance with SHE management systems and relevant legislation.
