Job summary

SkyCare is hiring Healthcare Assistants with UK-based experience to join our team and provide mental health care to residents in our West Yorkshire nursing homes, Bradford & Leeds. This is a full-time, permanent position with shifts of 33-44 hours per week; hourly rate £12.81.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home and community care focusing on mental health or developmental disabilities
• Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, schizophrenia, memory care, and hospice support
• Familiarity with observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
• Ability to lift heavy objects safely and use assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts
• Experience with autism or behavioral health conditions is a plus
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• UK-based Nursing Home experience for at least 1 year

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care (washing and dressing)
• Assist residents with mobility using lifting equipment
• Assist residents with eating, drinking, communication and social activities
• Complete documentation as requested by the manager/nurse
• Maintain a clean and safe nursing home environment
• Follow policies and guidelines for staff
• Mentor new care assistants and provide training support
• Attend in-house and external training as required
• Report changes in a resident's condition to the nurse in charge

Qualifications /requirements:

Duties will include but not limited to:

• Assist residents with all aspects of personal care e.g. washing and dressing
• Assist residents with mobility - including moving and handling equipment
• Assist residents with eating and drinking, communication and joining in social activities
• Complete all documentation as requested by the manager/nurse
• Maintain a clean and safe environment within the nursing home
• Ensure all policies and guidelines are followed by all staff members
• Act as a mentor to all new care assistants and ensure they are working to their role
• Attend all in house and external training as required
• Report any issues or changes in a residents condition to the nurse in charge
