Job summary

Skycare in West Yorkshire is seeking enthusiastic CARE ASSISTANTS/SUPPORT WORKERS to join our Wakefield service area. You will work full-time, 42 hours per week across day and night shifts on a rolling rota, with a pay rate of £12.71 per hour plus overtime.

You must have at least 6 months of healthcare support experience, and must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship for the next 12 months. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Essential demonstrable support worker experience with service users who have complex needs (mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse).
• Able to assess service users’ needs to plan and deliver effective and engaging support.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to manage risk and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate support to clients in their homes, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Assist with daily living activities including meals, medication, and personal care.
• Monitor and document clients’ health, report changes to healthcare professionals.
• Engage clients in activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and families.

We're looking for enthusiastic applicants for a CARE ASSISTANTS/SUPPORT WORKERS for our services based West Yorkshire area: Wakefield, Castleford, Normanton, Crigglestone, Rothwell

• FULL-TIME,42 HOURS PER WEEK
• Shifts available: currently have day and night shift patterns available, working on a rolling rota
• Have the right to work without sponsorship in the next 12 months.Pay rate is £12.71 per hour, overtime +£1 per hour
• Experience required at least 6 months as healthcare assistant or Support worker in a care home or supported living location and to work without sponsorship for next 12-months

• Willing to attend training as needed to support you in your role.
• Able to work flexibly shifts.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For:

• It is essential to have demonstrable support worker experience, working with service users who have been homeless and/or have complex needs including, mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse etc.
• You must be able to assess service users' needs in order to plan and deliver effective and engaging support.
• You'll have strong organisational and communication skills – both written and verbally.
• You'll be able to manage risk, ensuring that all procedures are followed, and risk is managed appropriately.
• You'll have the ability to support service users in volunteering and community work involving group activities.
• You must be flexible to work weekends on a rota basis. You may on occasion be required to travel so access to a vehicle is desirable
• Ability to drive is desirable. Sometimes we need someone to drive a resident to his appointments.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues
• Experience in care homes is advantageous
