Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent, part-time position of 22.2 hours per week (salary is pro-rata for part-time hours).

The shift pattern for this role is from 08:30 to 16:30/16:18.

As part of the Vaccination Transformation Programme in Scotland, we have established four teams across NHSGG&C to deliver childhood immunisations. Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) are essential in ensuring the smooth operation of community clinics, maintaining cold chain procedures, ordering stocks and supplies, and communicating regularly with parents and carers. HCSWs contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of immunisations to children across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

HCSW Role:

  • Experience working with children and an interest in Public Health is preferred.
  • A desire to work within a small, skill-mixed team.
  • The role involves supporting community-based clinics to deliver childhood immunisations smoothly.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in using IT are essential.
  • Full training will be provided.

These positions will primarily be based in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde (2 days), but all posts are employed by GGC Board, and cross-boundary working within the four teams may be required.
