To assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening, and patient education. The role also involves some administrative duties.
A uniform and name badge must be worn at all times, which will be supplied by the Practice.
You will act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, nurses, and other members of the primary health care team.
Main duties of the job
- Nursing
- BP monitoring, including 24HR BP monitoring
- Urinalysis
- ECG recording and monitoring
- Immunisations: Flu, B12, and pneumonia as per competencies
- Chronic disease work-ups
- Wound management, including dressings, clip, and suture removal
- Provide lifestyle advice to patients and make necessary referrals within the practice or to outside agencies
- Weight monitoring
- Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed
- Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the nurse manager
- Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection
- Restocking and maintenance of equipment
- Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms

- Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team
- Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients' notes
- Keep the clinical computer system up to date with accurate details
- Complete all necessary documentation related to patient healthcare and registration
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as required
- Assist in formulating practice philosophy, strategy, and policy
- Restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms
- Assist in seasonal and special projects, e.g., flu campaigns
