About the Service

About us:

Priory Hospital Solihull is a mental health hospital located in Meriden, near Solihull and Coventry. We provide Rehabilitation & Recovery services to 31 inpatients across three wards:

  • Arley Ward - 10-bed male R&R (HDU)
  • Elkin Ward - 10-bed male R&R (HDU)
  • Millison Ward - 11-bed male R&R (Community Facing)

Patients often have complex needs, including physical health issues, substance misuse, and secondary mental health conditions.

The hospital benefits from a multidisciplinary team including Medical, OT, Psychology, Nurses, HCAs, and Ward Managers, supported by admin and senior teams.

Our focus is on patient-centered care, offering assessments, treatments, and interventions aimed at promoting independence and collaboration.

Role Description

Our approach:

We aim to help patients maximize independence through individual and group therapies, including Substance Misuse, Relapse Prevention, Wellbeing, and Occupational Therapy (e.g., Cooking, Budgeting, Life Skills). Supporting patients’ individual goals is key.

Main Duties

We don’t require prior healthcare experience but look for qualities such as:

  • Resilience: Working with vulnerable patients with mental health challenges
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with patients and staff
  • Organizational Skills: Documenting and planning
  • Care and Compassion: Providing empathetic care
  • Attentiveness: Understanding individual patient needs

This role involves night shifts, with day shifts for training and meetings. Shifts are 12 hours, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays:

  • Day Shift: 07:30 - 19:45
  • Night Shift: 19:30 - 07:45

Our hospital operates 24/7, and staff work various shift patterns.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Full driver’s license (for escorting patients)
  • Flexibility for shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Understanding of severe Mental Health conditions
  • Passion for quality care and improvement
  • Proactive, forward-thinking, and creative
  • Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based practice
  • Willingness to learn and develop

Preferred experience:

  • Leading a team
  • Working in inpatient mental health
