Purpose:

Our Health and Safety Lead plays an instrumental role in enhancing our safety culture and improving our practices. Sitting as part of the Site Leadership Team, you will provide vision and strategy for the HSE function, ensuring site compliance with best practices and legislation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The HS Lead will empower our people leaders with tools, frameworks, and training to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the site HSE plan with a focus on culture.
  • Lead on people development using regional contacts, emphasizing industry standards.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business at all levels.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain critical plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain HSE records.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and update the risk assessment library accordingly.
  • Support the HR Department with occupational health referral information.
  • Manage incident, accident, and near-miss reporting systems and ensure timely follow-up actions, either directly or through delegation.
Skills and qualifications:
  • NEBOSH certification is essential.
  • Environmental experience is desirable.
  • Food industry experience is desirable.
  • LEAN manufacturing experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 9001 standards is highly desirable.
  • Ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resolution-focused problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to teach and coach effectively.
