Job Overview The Health and Safety Assistant will support the overall compliance department within the organisation, ensuring that key safety, health, environmental and quality practices are maintained. This role focuses on documentation management, health and safety compliance and the monitoring of various systems to guarantee adherence to industry regulations. It requires a detail-oriented individual who will assist in auditing processes, training coordination and internal checks to maintain operational integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the implementation of Health and Safety, Environment and Quality policies, procedures and standards to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Perform regular checks on first aid supplies to ensure they are fully stocked and up to date.
  • Conduct fire safety checks, ensuring all internal checks are documented.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Oversee Legionella control documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date and actions are complete.
  • Maintain and update documentation and systems for maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with action items from Risk Assessments (RA), 8D reports, audits, assessments, and meetings, including shop floor quality checks.
  • Attend meetings when deemed appropriate.
  • Provide administrative support to the Compliance department and perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time; such as Risk Assessments and Chemical Regulatory documentation.
Skills and Experience
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Be willing to attend training courses to gain qualifications such as IOSH and IMS Internal Auditor.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within health and safety.
Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Internal Auditor
  • Experience with ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 systems; REACH, COMAH, COSHH, CLP.
