Job summary

Clackmannanshire Council invites applications for the Headteacher of Deerpark Primary School. The post is to provide vision, direction and high standards of education and care to enable all children to become successful learners and confident individuals.

The Headteacher will be accountable to the education authority and act as principal adviser to the parent council. A temporary contract may be offered to those not yet SQH or Into Headship qualified.

Qualifications

• GTCS registered teacher status is required.
• For those not yet completed SQH or Into Headship, a temporary contract may be offered.
• Commitment to welfare and safeguarding of children as part of the role.

• Provide vision, direction and high educational standards for learners.
• Be accountable to the education authority and act as principal adviser to the parent council.
• Lead the school in implementing policies and ensure engagement with the PVG scheme requirements.

Job description

Headteacher – Deerpark Primary School - CLA04480

The role of the Headteacher is to provide vision direction and high standards of education and care to enable all children and young people to become:

The Headteacher will, within the resources available, conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the Chief Education Officer.

The Headteacher shall be accountable to the education authority for the duties outlined in A Teaching Agreement for the 21st Century, Annex B. and for other such duties as can reasonably be attached to the post.

The Headteacher shall act on behalf of the authority, as principal professional adviser to the parent council and to provide to the parent council such advice and information as is required by the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006.

A successful candidate who has not yet completed the SQH or Into Headship course and who is not currently a substantive Headteacher will be offered a temporary contract for 23 months which may be extended to a maximum of 30 months.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and / or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. You will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undertake a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Clackmannanshire Council. Further guidance will follow in your conditional offer of employment on how to apply.
