Job summary

Rowden in Bristol seeks a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of complex systems across programmes. You’ll own major elements of a system—defining architecture, driving integration, and ensuring end-to-end capability.

You’ll work with users, engineers and partners to de-risk delivery and ensure robust, operational solutions. This hands-on leadership role covers soldier systems, C4I, AI/ML capabilities and new product development, combining software, hardware, networks

Qualifications

• Model-based and agile systems engineering tools and techniques used in practice.
• Experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle with diverse development approaches.
• Degree or equivalent in engineering or a technical subject.

Responsibilities

• Owning and leading the systems engineering design and integration of major system elements within complex programmes.
• Developing and maintaining system architectures, interface definitions and integration plans.
• Acting as the technical go-to for your system area and guiding engineering decisions.
• Applying pragmatic systems engineering across the V-cycle with appropriate rigour and pace.
• Collaborating with software, hardware, RF, networking and infrastructure teams to deliver multidisciplinary systems.
• Identifying and managing technical risks, dependencies and integration challenges using modelling and testing.
• Working with users, partners and stakeholders to ensure systems meet operational needs.
• Mentoring engineers and contributing to continuous improvement of Rowden’s systems engineering practices.
