Job summary

Nationwide Building Society is seeking an experienced Head of Risk & Governance to join our Retail & Group Customer Operations Risk team. You’ll lead 1st line risk, oversee conduct and regulatory risk, and shape risk frameworks across Collections & Recoveries and Specialist Support.

You will mentor a team, partner with senior leaders, and drive improvements to protect customers and deliver Nationwide's strategy within a hybrid working model across the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulated financial services risk or compliance roles.
• Strong understanding of Collections & Recoveries, Bereavement, Power of Attorney activities and associated risks.
• Ability to simplify complex risks and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience designing risk and control frameworks across a large financial services organisation.
• Knowledge of regulatory governance principles and practical risk management processes.
• Qualified in risk or compliance (IRM/ICA) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead 1st line risk input to function and society-level strategy and risk profile.
• Provide regulatory expertise and guidance across functions to ensure compliance.
• Design and execute governance, reporting, MI and risk indicators tied to appetite metrics.
• Coach and develop a risk team, enabling skills growth and succession.
