Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Risk & Control Specialist within Business Banking to strengthen the control environment and partner with senior stakeholders across the division. You will shape the risk profile, embed risk awareness and drive meaningful change in first line risk management.

You’ll operate in a hybrid working model across our UK offices (Glasgow, London and Northampton) with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, solve problems, and deliver robust controls aligned to regulatory

Qualifications

• Experience with Business Banking products.
• Strong risk and control knowledge in a complex business.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and monitor control frameworks.
• Excellent commercial acumen and ability to add value through risk management.
• Proactive problem-solving approach.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory and business practices for Commercial products.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior business leaders, embedding a strong control environment that supports Business Banking objectives while maintaining risk integrity.
• Embed the Business Banking risk and control profile and pursue continuous improvement in risk management.
• Identify, log and manage issues/events, reporting to the Senior Leadership Team with robust validation and evidence for closure.
• Translate policies and risk appetite into operational action, ensuring practical, sustainable controls and professional stakeholder engagement.
