Job summary

T3AM Global is recruiting a Head of Retail Operations & Transformation for a multi-site supermarket group in the North West. You will report directly to the Managing Director and lead operational improvements, centralising processes, systems and reporting across the estate.

You will drive a modern operating model with centralised purchasing, stock management and EPOS/retail technology upgrades while building KPIs, data-driven insights and high-performance retail teams across Manchester sites.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in senior retail operations or multi-site management.
• Experience in supermarkets or grocery retail and driving operational improvements.
• Proven change-management experience with data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance improvements, restructuring and cross-site initiatives across multiple stores.
• Develop and implement centralised processes for purchasing, stock management, reporting and store operations.
• Oversee introduction of EPOS, inventory management and retail technology systems.
• Establish KPIs, management reporting and data-driven decision-making.
• Review management structures, remove inefficiencies and improve operating procedures.

Head of Retail Operations & Transformation

Multi-Site Supermarket Retail | Business Transformation | Reporting Directly to the Managing Director | £50,000-£70,000

The company

T3AM Global is recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's established ethnic supermarket chains, with a significant presence across the North West.

The business operates multiple large-format supermarkets, offering a wide range of international groceries, fresh produce, halal meat and everyday essentials to diverse communities.

As the company enters its next phase of growth and modernisation, we are looking to appoint an experienced Head of Retail Operations & Transformation to work directly alongside the Managing Director and lead operational improvements across the group.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious retail leader to play a central role in transforming an established supermarket business, introducing modern systems, improving performance and helping shape its future direction.

The role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will become a key member of the senior leadership team, taking responsibility for driving operational excellence, implementing change and improving performance across multiple supermarket locations.

You will review existing operations, identify opportunities for improvement and lead the introduction of centralised processes, systems and reporting across the business.

A major focus will be the modernisation of the group's operating model, including centralised purchasing, stock management, management information, retail technology and consistent store operating procedures.

Alongside this, you will act as a trusted right-hand person to the Managing Director, supporting strategic projects, business improvements and wider growth initiatives.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical implementation.

You will take responsibility for:

• Leading operational performance, restructuring and improvement initiatives across multiple supermarket locations
• Developing and implementing centralised processes covering purchasing, stock management, reporting and store operations
• Overseeing the introduction of new EPOS, inventory management and retail technology systems
• Establishing clear KPIs, management reporting and data-driven decision-making across the group
• Reviewing existing management structures, identifying inefficiencies and introducing improved operating procedures
• Leading, coaching and developing operational management teams to drive accountability and performance
• Working directly with the Managing Director on strategic projects, business transformation and growth initiatives

What you need

It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:

• Significant experience in a senior retail operations or multi-site management position
• Strong experience within supermarkets, grocery retail, food retail or a closely related retail environment
• Proven experience implementing operational improvements, restructuring or change management initiatives
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of retail profitability, purchasing, stock control and operational performance
• Confidence analysing data, identifying trends and using management information to improve business performance
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work across multiple locations throughout the North West

Other DESIRABLE skills include:

• Previous experience as a Head of Operations, Regional Manager, Area Manager or Retail Operations Director
• Experience implementing EPOS, ERP, inventory management or centralised retail systems
• Experience establishing centralised purchasing and procurement functions
• Knowledge of ethnic supermarkets, independent grocery chains or large-format food retail
• Experience supporting business expansion, transformation or multi-site restructuring
