This role will lead the next stage of transformational growth by developing and delivering increased income through Maggie’s public fundraising streams. As Head of Public Fundraising, you will lead and develop a first-class team to grow our portfolio, ensuring it is sector-leading, leverages market opportunities, and expands significantly year on year.
As a key member of the fundraising leadership team, this senior role will be responsible for leading the team to deliver and grow a multi-million-pound portfolio of national campaigns, executed alongside our network of 24 Maggie’s centres and our marketing, brand, and communications functions.

Key responsibilities
- Lead acquisition, retention, and stewardship strategies for physical and digital campaigns, products, events, third-party events, legacies, in-memory giving, direct marketing, and Individual Giving to achieve significant growth aligned with Maggie’s 5-year plan.
- Review, develop, and innovate the fundraising portfolio to build brand awareness and inspire supporter engagement.
- Plan and execute multi-channel communication plans to support fundraising efforts targeting both warm and cold audiences.
- Drive a high-performance team using insights, Business Intelligence, Management Information, and KPIs.
- Monitor external trends and explore new techniques/technologies to identify investment opportunities and ensure Maggie’s remains compliant and innovative.
- Collaborate with the communications team to maximize marketing and promotion ROI for events and sponsorships.
- Manage relationships with external agencies to test new channels and deliver campaigns.
- Ensure projects are delivered on budget and on time, with up-to-date, compliant contracts.

Skills, knowledge, and expertise
- Degree level education or equivalent experience.
- Recognized qualification in Fundraising, Marketing, or Communications.
- Proven success in achieving challenging acquisition targets.
- Experience building segmentation models and communication plans to inspire support.
- Strategic experience at a senior level, delivering multi-million-pound targets.
- Experience delivering integrated strategic campaigns.
- Experience recruiting supporters at scale.
- Financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting skills.
- Deep knowledge of fundraising methodologies and supporter care principles.
- Experience managing third-party agencies and budgets.
- Strong direct and digital marketing knowledge.
- Research skills to identify trends and develop solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Understanding of agency and creative relationship management.
