Job description

About The Role

Join the RAC as our Head of Pricing, a permanent leadership role with an initial focus on shaping the commercial decisions that help retain over 2 million members while driving sustainable growth across one of the RAC's largest business areas.

This is a high-profile leadership opportunity within the Consumer division, offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders, including Executive and Board-level audiences. Initially, you will lead the development and delivery of the RAC's retention pricing strategy, ensuring we continue to drive profitability, minimise churn and respond effectively to an evolving regulatory and competitive landscape. Over time, you will play a key role in shaping the broader pricing strategy and capability across the Consumer business.

Reporting to the Director of Pricing & Value, you'll oversee pricing strategy and governance for a membership base of approximately 2.1 million members and support the pricing of around £300m worth of policies.

Whilst a strong understanding of pricing principles is important, this role is less about hands-on modelling and technical analysis and more about setting strategic direction, influencing decision-making, managing stakeholders and ensuring pricing excellence across the business. You'll work closely with commercial, finance, marketing, compliance and executive stakeholders to translate complex pricing insights into clear business actions.

This is a permanent leadership position offering the opportunity to shape the future of pricing at the RAC. As the organisation continues to evolve and invest in growth, you'll have the chance to lead high-profile initiatives, influence business strategy and further develop your career within a market-leading consumer brand.

This is a hybrid working role.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop the RAC's pricing strategy, with an initial focus on Consumer retention pricing, ensuring it supports business growth, profitability and member retention goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing constructive challenge and commercial insight across pricing and value initiatives.
  • Deputise for the Director of Pricing & Value on pricing-related matters.
  • Lead key pricing programmes and strategic initiatives that are critical to divisional and Group performance.
  • Translate regulatory changes into clear business impacts and action plans, ensuring the RAC remains compliant and commercially effective.
  • Build strong relationships with executives, regulators and key business stakeholders, creating alignment around pricing decisions.
  • Lead, coach and develop a small team of pricing analysts, creating a high-performing and collaborative culture.
  • Drive innovation in pricing capability, helping the RAC remain a market leader in pricing performance, value management and customer retention.
  • Ensure robust governance, risk management and compliance processes are embedded in all pricing decisions.
What You'll Need
  • Significant experience in pricing, commercial strategy or value management within insurance, financial services, banking or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing and presenting to Executive and Board-level audiences.
  • Proven leadership experience, including leading strategic programmes and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, with the ability to balance customer outcomes, profitability and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to translate complex information into clear business decisions.
