Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Senior leader to head Pre-Construction for Internal Drainage Boards (IDB). The role focuses on developing IDB capability across Central, Eastern and South East England while building trusted relationships with regulators, consultants and water-sector stakeholders.

You will drive early contractor involvement, shape opportunities and ensure technically robust, commercially viable solutions for pumping stations and related civil works.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering pre-construction for water or flood resilience projects.
• Knowledge of Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs), FCERM, pumping stations or drainage environments.
• Proven ability to shape opportunities before formal procurement or tender.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to engage senior stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, long-term relationships with Internal Drainage Boards, Environment Agency and other water-sector stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of future programmes, challenges and investment priorities of customers.
• Identify, shape and pursue IDB and flood resilience opportunities with FCERM and regional teams.
• Lead early contractor involvement and technical pre-construction discussions with customers and partners.
• Coordinate inputs from design, technical, estimating, planning and commercial teams.
• Provide technical leadership around pumping stations and related civil works, including MEICA interfaces.
