Head of Physical Education Needed - Secondary School in South West London
ABOUT THE ROLE

A high-performing secondary school in South West London is seeking a dynamic, organised, and inspiring Head of PE to lead its Physical Education department. You will be responsible for driving high standards across KS3-KS5, managing a strong PE team, shaping curriculum delivery, and ensuring students receive an exceptional sports education.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the PE department, ensuring high-quality teaching across KS3-KS5
  • Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and progression
  • Manage and promote extracurricular sports, fixtures, and enrichment activities
  • Support and develop the PE teaching team
  • Track data, monitor outcomes, and drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain outstanding behaviour, safeguarding, and inclusion standards
  • Liaise with SLT and contribute to whole-school strategic development
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Strong experience teaching PE in UK secondary schools
  • Proven leadership ability or readiness to step into leadership
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour management
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full-time availability, Monday to Friday

Experience as a Head of Department is desirable — but exceptional PE teachers ready for progression will also be considered.
