Job Description

Responsible to: Head of Performance Services

Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours (negotiable based on skills and experience)

The role involves leading the Sport Science and Medicine team, developing athlete health and wellbeing strategies, providing high-quality coaching, and fostering an optimal athlete experience. The position requires occasional weekend travel and overnight stays for camps and competitions.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Work with the Head of Performance to ensure operational plans align with strategic objectives and are delivered on time and within budget.
  2. Lead the Sport Science and Medicine Team, ensuring performance services align with athlete development goals.
  3. Develop and implement athlete health and wellbeing strategies, including medical screening and injury surveillance.
  4. Coordinate physiotherapy and medical care during training camps and competitions.
  5. Contribute to research partnerships to benefit athlete health and performance.
  6. Collaborate with coaching staff to deliver strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation coaching.
  7. Ensure a person-centred approach to athlete development and support continuous improvement based on feedback.
  8. Build and maintain professional relationships with athletes, coaches, and support staff.
Person Specification

Minimum requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the UK with a valid passport or ability to obtain one before 1 September 2025.
  • No current disqualifications or suspensions from relevant bodies.
  • Enhanced DBS check and Safeguarding Certificate.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Strength & Conditioning or Physiotherapy or relevant equivalent.
  • UKSCA Accredited or equivalent.
  • UKAD Introduction to Clean Sport Certification.
  • At least eight years of rehabilitation or S&C experience in Olympic or professional sport.
  • At least four years of leading interdisciplinary teams in sport.
  • Experience with elite athletes in strength and power sports.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Postgraduate Degree in relevant field.
  • Experience working with Weightlifters.
  • WADA ADEL Course Certification.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable).
