We are recruiting a strategic and proactive Head of Operations to join their ambitious team in a permanent role, with additional responsibility for covering Business Manager duties for a 12-month period.
This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and supporting the way a purpose-driven organisation works behind the scenes - ensuring the systems, processes and people that power its mission are aligned, efficient and well-supported. The role is fully remote with occasional travel and offers flexibility for either full-time or part-time working arrangements.
Role Responsibilities
Head of Operations – Permanent
- Lead the development and implementation of internal processes across the organisation to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Coordinate delivery operations, ensuring projects run smoothly with clear workflows, timelines and communication.
- Review and improve internal systems and data management tools (e.g. Xero, SharePoint, spreadsheets).
- Oversee day-to-day marketing coordination to maintain a consistent brand presence and campaign delivery.
- Drive internal communication and team connectivity to support engagement and collaboration.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding for consultants and associates, including contracts and induction.
- Support people operations and HR processes in collaboration with the CEO.
- Oversee governance, documentation and compliance, including core strategy meetings and filings.
- Contribute to business development by supporting early-stage pipeline activity and coordination.
Business Manager Maternity Cover – 12 Months
- Oversee finance administration including invoicing, payroll coordination, VAT/pension submissions and Xero reconciliation.
- Support project scheduling, capacity planning and team resourcing across multiple programmes.
- Contribute to marketing execution and attend weekly business development meetings.
- Maintain smooth internal operations, including IT, communications, and day-to-day admin support.
- Organise and support governance functions including leadership meetings, minute-taking and compliance filing.
Person Specification
We’re looking for someone who:
- Brings strong experience in operations or business management - ideally within a consultancy, social enterprise, or purpose-led organisation.
- Has hands-on experience with internal systems, project coordination, finance processes and HR support.
- Is highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable leading delivery processes across a distributed team.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and collaboration skills, and is trusted by colleagues at all levels.
- Thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment and can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day delivery.
- Is values-driven with a strong interest in social impact, community-led initiatives and systems change.
What’s On Offer
- Permanent position with salary of £45,000–£55,000, depending on experience.
- Remote working with occasional in-person meetings.
