Job summary

Haringey Council is seeking an experienced Head of Mechanical & Engineering Services to lead delivery, development and compliance of mechanical, electrical, gas and water safety across housing stock and corporate property.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Repairs & Compliance, you will provide professional leadership across a diverse service area, ensuring resident safety, statutory compliance, driving service improvement, and overseeing the successful delivery of capital and revenue

Qualifications

• Qualified and/or suitably experienced engineering professional with substantial background in mechanical and engineering services.
• Knowledge of building services, compliance requirements, project delivery and contract management.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, secure funding and drive strategic change.
• Inspiring leader with experience in motivating and developing teams and delivering high‑quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery, development and compliance of mechanical, electrical, gas and water safety services across housing stock and corporate property.
• Provide professional leadership across a diverse service area, ensuring resident safety and statutory compliance.
• Drive service improvement and oversee capital and revenue programmes.
• Manage major projects, contractor performance, budget management, and introduce innovative engineering solutions.
