Job summary

The University of Warwick is seeking a senior leader to manage Building Fabric across the estate, providing strategic direction, technical governance and safe, compliant maintenance operations for a large campus.

You will lead reactive, planned and statutory maintenance, drive long-term asset lifecycle planning and oversee on-site teams and contractors to ensure building integrity and performance, including fire safety and envelope systems.

Qualifications

• Experience leading fabric maintenance teams.
• Knowledge of fire doors, passive fire protection, roofing, cladding, glazing and building envelope.
• Experience with long-term asset lifecycle planning and capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead reactive, planned and statutory fabric maintenance.
• Coordinate improvements through in-house teams and contractors.
• Develop and mentor the facilities team and foster continuous improvement.
• Manage an out-of-hours, 24/7 on-call rota with the team.

About the Role

To manage a team and provide senior leadership, technical governance and strategic direction for Building Fabric disciplines across the University estate. The role ensures safe, compliant, efficient and sustainable maintenance operations across a large and evolving campus – including long-term capital planning and delivery.

About You

You will lead the delivery of reactive, planned and statutory fabric maintenance, drives long‑term asset lifecycle planning, and ensures the integrity and performance of the University’s built environment — including fire doors, passive fire protection, roofing, cladding, glazing, structural components and the overall building envelope.

To provide and coordinate small scale improvement works through in‑house labour and contractors.

You will lead and develop the team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus, to deliver a high‑quality service.

You will need to work on an out of hours on call rota with other team members on basis of 24/7 availability 1 week in 4 (13 weeks per annum).
