Job summary

Lancer Scott, based in Bristol, is seeking a maintenance professional to support the Accommodation Maintenance Team at the University of the West of England (UWE). You will perform pre-planned and reactive repairs to building fabric across a range of assets, ensuring quality service and timely delivery.

This role emphasizes joinery, tiling, drainage and general fabric repairs, working with PDA devices, complying with health and safety rules, and coordinating with the Helpdesk to respond quickly

  • Demonstrable experience in Building Maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills with various stakeholders.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Good record keeping and comfortable using a PDA system.
  • Adaptable team worker keen to get involved and support others.
  • CSCS Card held.
  • IT skills – use of PDA devices.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and complete a range of works including joinery, tiling, drainage, minor roof repairs and other fabric tasks.
  • Provide high-quality maintenance services to the client and deliver to the highest standards.
  • Use initiative to resolve technical problems during reactive maintenance and source parts as needed.
  • Complete works within agreed timescales and in compliance with regulations and contract specs.
  • Report procedures, maintenance logs and risk controls to minimise hazards.
  • Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to document tasks.
  • Liaise with Helpdesk for efficient response to tasks, individually or in teams.
  • Maintain high health and safety standards and perform risk assessments for each task.

Job Description

Supporting the Accommodation Maintenance Team at The University of the West England (UWE) you will be responsible for the completion of both pre-planned and reactive remedial repairs and maintenance, to the internal and external fabric of a wide variety of assets. This is a new position to help ensure we continue to deliver an efficient and quality service to our client.

  • Play a key role in planning and completing a range of works associated with joinery, tiling, drainage, minor roof repairs, finishes, plastering, flooring etc to building fabric systems or any required minor building fabric repairs, dependent on relevant experience.
  • Provide exceptional maintenance services to our high profile client and go the extra mile to deliver to the highest quality standards in all areas of your performance.
  • Use your own initiative to solve complicated technical problems associated with reactive maintenance activities, including sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.
  • Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards, ensuring that you comply with current regulations and contract specifications.
  • Report and record procedures, including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimise risks.
  • Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.
  • Liaise closely with our Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to all works either working on your own or as part of a team.
  • Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times, including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure the best possible working practices are adhered to.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in Building Maintenance
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Good planning and organisational skills to keep on top of priorities
  • Good record keeping skills and comfortable using a PDA system
  • An adaptable team worker keen to get involved and support others
  • CSCS Card
  • IT Skills – in the use of PDA’s
