IN A NUTSHELL

Reporting to our Technology and Portfolio Director, the Head of IT will oversee all of Bulk’s back and middle office technology, focusing on ensuring our core ERP architecture provides an exceptional customer experience.

Leading a team of six, including four direct reports, this role covers daily service delivery, system and process improvements, and support for larger transformation projects, all while maintaining Bulk security.

Following major upgrades in 2024 across nearly all systems, we are now looking for a leader to optimize this new landscape, unlock technology potential, and grow a high-performing team.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

IT Strategy & Planning

• Define and implement an IT strategy aligned with business goals, focusing on ERP and back-office systems
• Maintain and update IT policies, procedures, and standards
• Identify emerging technologies to stay competitive
• Manage the IT budget for cost-effectiveness and ROI

IT Infrastructure, Operations & Service Management

• Oversee core IT infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance
• Ensure system stability, performance, and resilience
• Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning
• Manage IT support for effective user service
• Oversee external IT vendors, SLAs, and value delivery
• Maintain data integrity and incident management

Cybersecurity & Data Protection

• Develop cybersecurity strategies to safeguard systems and data
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, NIST, etc.)
• Implement security controls and conduct audits
• Promote security awareness organization-wide

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, coach, and develop the IT team
• Set goals, conduct reviews, and support development
• Balance service delivery with change activities

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Build trusted relationships across the business
• Communicate technical info clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Align IT solutions with departmental needs

Change Management

• Implement scalable change processes
• Plan, communicate, test, and adopt changes
• Support project teams in impact assessment
• Manage internal development for quality and ROI

3rd Party Vendor Management

• Select, contract, and manage external vendors
• Monitor performance and optimize delivery
• Ensure compliance and seek improvements

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred)
• Certifications like ITIL, CISSP, CISM, PMP, Prosci ADKAR (preferred)
• 7+ years of IT experience with 3+ years in leadership roles
• Experience managing IT infrastructure, operations, security, and change in retail
• ERP/WMS/Middleware support experience
• Cloud platform experience (Azure, GCP)
• Strong cybersecurity knowledge and regulatory compliance experience
• Experience managing IT budgets (£m scale)
• Proven leadership in managing complex change initiatives
• Vendor relationship management skills
• Excellent communication and team motivation skills
• Ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
• Understanding of core business processes supported by ERP/WMS

LOCATION: Colchester or London (weekly visits to Colchester required if based in London)
