Welsh Government in Pan Wales is seeking a Head of Information Rights Unit to lead the Information Rights Unit within Digital, Data and Technology, ensuring compliance with data protection and information governance across the organisation.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements, line management of two EO Caseworkers, and the chance to influence policy and governance while supporting Ministers and senior officials with privacy risk management.

Mansioni

• Drafting policy and guidance on Information Rights and Data Protection legislation
• Providing timely advice on the data protection legislation as it applies to Welsh Government policy, lawmaking and security
• Providing advice and guidance to officials on handling FOI requests
• Helping WG teams comply with information management legislation and the Code of Practice
• Using expert knowledge of DPA, UK GDPR, PECR, LED, FOIA and EIR to steer sensitive requests to a conclusion
• Providing advice, guidance and mentorship to IRU team members on their roles and caseloads
• Line management of 2x EO Caseworkers
• Keeping abreast of changes to guidance, legislation and case law and updating Welsh Government guidance accordingly
