Job summary

Coleg y Cymoedd is seeking a Head of Compliance and Data Protection Officer to lead the college's compliance assurance and data governance. You will advise senior leaders on UK GDPR, DPIAs, FOI and information governance while coordinating regulatory reporting and assurance with Medr.

You will work with the Governing Body and teams to design and implement effective controls, policies and records management, ensuring robust data protection across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant discipline such as law, information governance, compliance or related field.
• A recognised data protection qualification (BCS Practitioner Certificate, ISEB Data Protection or IAPP CIPP/E) or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• Substantial experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a senior data protection/compliance role within a regulated environment.
• Experience advising senior leaders, executive teams and governing bodies on regulatory, data protection and information governance matters.
• Experience developing compliance frameworks, policies, registers and risk-based monitoring arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the college's compliance assurance and data protection program.
• Provide independent oversight across regulatory compliance, data protection and information governance.
• Coordinate the college's Medr reporting and annual assurance return.
• Advise on DPIAs, records of processing activities and information asset registers.
• Build strong relationships with senior leaders, the Governing Body and committees to translate regulation into practical action.
