Job summary

Turner Lovell is recruiting a Head of Commissioning for a UK utility infrastructure contractor delivering power connections for data centres, renewables and industrial projects.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will own commissioning across 11kV-132kV substations and cable circuits, and set standards to guide projects through energisation and handover.

This is a newly created role with scope to build a high-performing commissioning team as the business grows.

Qualifications

• Experience leading commissioning teams within a DNO/TSO or ICP.
• Minimum five years UK experience as Commissioning Engineer or Senior Authorised Person (11kV-132kV).
• Strong knowledge of HV plant, cables, protection & control; understands G81 and NERS.
• HNC or equivalent in Electrical or Civil Engineering; full UK driving licence; willing to travel.
• Experience with 275kV/400kV transmission is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead and develop commissioning engineers and subcontractors across multiple projects.
• Establish and maintain technical standards, processes and best practice within commissioning.
• Lead commissioning from design reviews through testing, energisation and handover.
• Set commissioning plans, resolve technical issues and coordinate with clients and network operators.
• Deliver safely, on programme and within budget.
