The Head of HR will lead the HR function to define, implement, and assure a world-class HR service for our growing and distributed global team. Taking a lead role in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and processes, the role is highly ‘customer focused’ and requires someone who embraces change and drives programs with visibility across the organization.

Although based in Europe, the role covers all global activities and is supported by a small team of regional HR leads where needed. Flexibility to travel and experience with policies and practices in various countries are essential.

The role requires operating at multiple levels, supporting managers at different levels, including peers on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The candidate should also contribute to the wider group practices and ongoing evolution.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop organization strategies by researching HR issues, contributing to strategic thinking, and establishing HR objectives aligned with organizational goals.
  2. Implement HR strategies, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, benefits, training, records management, safety, succession planning, employee relations, compliance, and labor relations. Provide HR advice and analysis.
  3. Research, develop, update, and communicate policies, procedures, and organizational values.
  4. Ensure compliance with legislation by studying laws, anticipating changes, and advising management.
  5. Promote Velocix’s Purpose, Vision, and Values internally and support branding efforts.
  6. Partner with senior managers on employee management issues such as hiring, development, coaching, and exit processes.
  7. Drive performance management processes, including appraisals, surveys, and compensation reviews.
  8. Define and implement employee engagement strategies to improve retention and experience.
  9. Align HR strategies with the Group HR Director, ensuring consistency across policies and tools.
  10. Define and own Velocix HR policies and procedures per jurisdiction.
  11. Operational tasks: create employment contracts, onboard new hires, review job descriptions, perform compensation benchmarking, address employee issues, resolve performance and disciplinary matters, oversee employment terminations.

We seek an experienced HR professional who is self-motivated, strategic, influential, diplomatic, and business-savvy. The ideal candidate can see the big picture and execute steps toward company growth and goals.

Proven ability to build strong relationships with business and HR partners, fostering a cooperative environment.

Thorough knowledge of UK employment law, with international experience in Portugal, US, and India advantageous.

Experience with global labor laws, excellent communication skills, proficiency with HR software (Workday), and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Support staff development and build a strong HR team over time.

Work Experience Requirements
  1. Progressive HR experience with a proven track record.
  2. HR certification (CPHR) or equivalent education preferred.
  3. Experience with global HR policies, especially in UK, India, North America, and Portugal.
  4. Experience in highly technical, software development environments is desirable.
  5. Experience managing a small HR team.
  6. Successful delivery of complex change management programs.
  7. Experience working across different company sizes and cultures.
  8. Comfort and passion for working in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
