This pivotal, multi-functional role requires a comprehensive understanding of financial freight forwarding. The position can be based anywhere in the UK or Ireland, with travel to London, Manchester, Liverpool, Tilbury, or Dublin expected, so flexibility is essential.

What You Will Do
  1. Report to the Head of Finance Air & Ocean for Northern Europe, managing all financial responsibilities for the UK and Ireland.
  2. Collaborate with the UKI Accountancy Director and take ownership of weekly and monthly management reports and business reviews.
  3. Ensure accuracy and provide insights into past, present, and future performance, highlighting risks and contingencies.
  4. Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, focusing on improving customer profitability and challenging margin trends and KPIs.
  5. Work with operational teams and senior management to drive operational and commercial improvements, identify growth opportunities, and support renewals.
  6. Assist in commercial decision-making, including new business tenders, bids, renewals, capex, and ICAP processes, with a focus on customer contracts.
  7. Lead and develop a diverse team of financial professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and engagement.
What We Are Looking For
  1. Proven experience in accounting and reporting, ideally within a third-party logistics or freight forwarding environment.
  2. Operational and customer-facing experience, with a track record of implementing improvements and analyzing complex data.
  3. Strong stakeholder relationship skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and communicate tactfully.
  4. Experience coaching operational management and explaining financial impacts of operational actions.
  5. Excellent problem-solving, influencing skills, high attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  6. Proficiency with financial systems and MS Office, especially MS Excel.
  7. Desirable: CIMA, ACA, or ACCA qualification.
