We are Nottingham’s College and together, we make a positive difference to our learners, to our communities and to each other. We’re building better futures, for others and for ourselves. Here you will be at the forefront of curriculum development and innovation, ensuring our learners are equipped with the skills, behaviours and experiences to achieve at college and thrive in life. Here you will have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career, whilst leading in a large and vibrant college that puts its learners at the heart of everything it does.

Who We Need

Lead and shape the future of Science education in Nottingham

We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring Head of Faculty to lead our Science provision at our flagship City Hub campus.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced curriculum leader to influence the direction of one of the College’s key curriculum areas, helping to develop the next generation of scientists, healthcare professionals, and STEM specialists.

Working closely with the Assistant Principal, you will provide strategic leadership across our Science curriculum, driving excellence in teaching, learning and student outcomes while creating a culture where both learners and colleagues can thrive.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape curriculum design, strengthen progression pathways, build employer and university partnerships and ensure our provision responds to local skills priorities and workforce demands.

As Head of Faculty you will:

  • Lead and develop a responsive Science curriculum that meets students needs, local and regional skills priorities, employer expectations and funding opportunities.
  • Provide clear, supportive and accountable leadership for the Curriculum Manager and teaching team, creating the conditions for high-quality teaching learning and assessment.
  • Use data, management information and quality assurance activity to drive improvement in attendance, retention achievement, student experience and progression.
  • Take operational responsibility for curriculum performance, including effective curriculum planning, workforce planning, resource deployment, group sizes, room utilisation and budget awareness.

You Will Bring

You will bring proven curriculum leadership experience, with the confidence and credibility to lead teams, shape high-quality provision and deliver sustained improvement. Motivated by excellent student outcomes, you will combine strong educational insight with the ability to turn strategic priorities into effective, day-to-day practice.

You will understand the opportunities and challenges facing further education and be able to lead confidently in a changing environment. With a track record of improving teaching, learning and assessment, you will know how to use curriculum innovation, including digital approaches, to raise standards and support the highest outcomes for students.

As a people leader, you will be able to motivate, develop and support your curriculum team to thrive through coaching, clear communication and effective performance management. You will also be confident using data, quality information and management systems to identify priorities, monitor progress and take timely action where improvement is needed.

Above all, you will bring professionalism, integrity and a genuine commitment to safeguarding and inclusion. You will role model Nottingham College’s values, building trusted relationships with colleagues, students and partners while helping to create a faculty where everyone can belong, achieve and progress.
