Job summary

learndirect is seeking a Head of Faculty to lead our RQF qualifications remotely from England. You will line-manage tutors, uphold quality, and maintain awarding organisation compliance while putting learners first.You will drive learner outcomes, oversee IQA and OTLA, manage budgets, keep course content current, and collaborate with operations and the certification teams. This is a full-time remote leadership role for an experienced education professional.

Qualifications

• Degree educated with recognised teaching qualification.
• Level 3 teaching qualification or Cert in Education (or above).
• Assessor and IQA qualifications.
• Experience improving quality processes for RQF qualifications.
• Proven mentoring and staff development track record.
• Experience in remote learning delivery.
• Strong IT and data skills; highly organised.
• Confident with IT and data, highly organised and good at managing your time.
• Calm, decisive and able to defuse difficult situations.
• In-depth knowledge of Ofqual processes and RQF qualification specifications.
• Qualified teacher status.

Responsibilities

Every year, thousands of adult learners gain qualifications with learndirect that move their careers forward. We're looking for a Head of Faculty to lead our RQF qualifications: someone who holds tutors to high standards, keeps quality tight and puts learners first.

The role

You’ll run the faculty day to day and be the go-to person for everything RQF. You’ll manage our full-time tutors and associate tutors, lead on quality and awarding organisation compliance, and keep improving how we deliver. You will:

• line manage, train and develop full-time and associate tutors, and help recruit new ones
• lead on IQA across the faculty and run quality checks on staff and processes
• own awarding organisation relationships, keep our accreditation and direct claims status in place, and keep EQA visits free of sanctions
• set and maintain high standards of teaching practice, aiming for OTLA grade 2 or above
• drive learner outcomes, including success rates, first-time pass rates and learner satisfaction
• support learners directly through marking, coaching, subject surgeries and live lessons where needed
• keep course content, the course bible and website information accurate and up to date
• manage the associate tutor budget, raise purchase orders and keep costs under control
• work closely with operations, quality, and the registration and certification teams
• stay up to date with FE policy and Ofqual requirements that affect the faculty

About you

• degree educated
• Level 3 teaching qualification or Certificate in Education (or above)
• assessor qualification and IQA qualification
• proven experience managing and improving quality processes for RQF qualifications
• a track record of motivating, mentoring and developing staff
• able to turn qualification specifications into schemes of work, lesson plans and resources
• experienced in remote learning delivery
• confident with IT and data, highly organised and good at managing your time
• calm, decisive and able to defuse difficult situations
• in-depth knowledge of Ofqual processes and RQF qualification specifications
• qualified teacher status
