Job summary

Swinton Academy, part of Aston Community Education Trust, seeks an inspirational Head of Faculty for English to lead teaching, maximise resources and raise standards across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be supported by the Leadership Team, ACET Leaders and a dedicated teaching staff who are committed to high-quality learning.

You will join at an exciting time as Ark Curriculum has been introduced to strengthen literacy development.

Swinton Academy is part of Aston Community Education Trust, a forward thinking and ambitious multi-academy trust, comprising of three senior and nine junior academies across the Rotherham, Sheffield and north Derbyshire areas.

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Head of Faculty. The post-holder will lead the English faculty to secure high-quality teaching, the effective use of resources and improved standards of learning, progress and achievement for all students.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader who has the energy and commitment to lead this Faculty, supported closely by the academy’s Leadership Team, ACET Leaders and a team of dedicated professional teaching staff. Candidates should be able to provide evidence of and demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality lessons.

You would be joining us at an exciting time in the faculty's journey. We have just invested heavily in the new Ark Curriculum for our Key Stage 3 students. This has already provided colleagues with the structure required to ensure all students are challenged and supported to develop their English skills prior to Key Stage 4. Split into two parts, Ark focuses on literary heritage and writing mastery whilst running throughout, is the shared love of reading that is so important for student success.
