The estate of the Royal Ballet & Opera comprises three sites: the main site in Covent Garden, which includes a 2,000+ seated theatre dating from 1858, along with redeveloped stage, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, workshops, offices, and ancillary spaces, completed in 1999; a second theatre and refreshed front-of-house spaces delivered via the Open Project in 2018; the Production Workshop and Costume Centre in Thurrock, Essex; and a 14,000m2 store in Aberdare, Wales.
The facilities support a complex production schedule and the work of thousands of staff, artists, and creatives in staging opera and ballet to high standards.
The Head of Estates Engineering Services will oversee strategic planning and delivery of engineering services across all Royal Ballet and Opera sites, providing guidance on building and fabric maintenance, utilities, installation, capital works, energy-saving, and carbon reduction projects.
We seek an individual with proven experience leading engineering services in a comparable, live operational estate. The ideal candidate will possess excellent stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills, with a proactive and engaging approach.
