Job summary

Mining Remediation Authority in Mansfield is seeking a Head of Project Delivery (Coal) to own one of its largest capital programmes (£20m–£30m annually) and lead an experienced team of project and programme professionals delivering environmental and community benefits.

You will shape strategy, manage governance and budgets, influence senior stakeholders and drive delivery excellence across a national portfolio, with hybrid working and Mansfield office days.

Qualifications

• A track record of leading complex capital programmes or portfolios at scale.
• Experience building and developing high‑performing delivery teams.
• Credibility to influence senior stakeholders and navigate competing priorities.
• Strong commercial judgement and governance/risk discipline.
• Experience overseeing significant budgets, delivery partners and supply chains.
• Ability to turn strategic ambitions into a deliverable programme with outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for the Coal Project Delivery programme.
• Lead, develop and empower a team of project and programme professionals.
• Take ownership of performance across a £20m to £30m annual capital programme.
• Provide assurance and oversight across budgets, governance, risk and delivery.
• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, customers and partners.
• Strengthen the long-term pipeline and future delivery capability.
• Champion innovation, continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
• Play a key role in the leadership and future direction of the Environment Directorate.
