Attributes of a Head of English

1. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
2. Take on specific tasks related to the day-to-day administration and organisation of the department
3. Take on any additional responsibilities as determined from time to time
4. Support staff in achieving the priorities and targets of the school improvement plan and monitor progress
5. Ensure that parents and teaching staff are well informed about the curriculum, targets, children’s progress, and attainment in English

Qualifications for a Head of English

• QTS/PGCE valid in the UK, preferably in English
• Strong knowledge of the current UK English Curriculum
• Experience as a Head of English is desirable, but experienced teachers within the UK English sector are also encouraged to apply
